Things to know about Morocco

Weather:

Customs formalities: A valid passport is required to enter Morocco . The national identity card (NIC ) is not however needed to enter Morocco. The length of stay is limited to three months. For people outside the EU, you will need a visa for your stay. All the information is here.

Time difference with Morocco : It depends on the season and ranges from 1 hour or 2 hour time difference with France.

Money and Currency : The local currency is the dirham (MAD): 10DH = approximately € 0.90 . You can buy dirhams in Morocco.
Numerous bureaux de change or ATMs are available near the riad. You are advised to only exchange the minimum amount required at the airport.

Available:

Electricity: 220V and sockets are the same as in Europe, for those outside the EU, please pack an adapter.

Tap water: You can drink the tap water (we perform additional antibacterial treatment). However for your comfort and peace of mind we recommend that you drink bottled mineral water which is provided on arrival in each room, then you can order bottled mineral water for your daily consumption or buy in nearby shops.

Equipment: All rooms and suites are equipped with heating and / or air conditioning and a hairdryer. All are equipped with walk-in shower and separate toilet. Handmade soap is provided from the region of Essaouira based on Argan oil.

Wifi: Wifi is available in all rooms and on the terraces.

TV room: 3D, Smart TV connected to the Internet, wide selection of DVDs available.

Families and children: We can adapt our suites by adding beds up to 4 people.

Babysitter: We use reliable people that work with us.

Doctor and vaccination: No vaccinations are required in Morocco but we still recommend you to be up to date with your vaccinations and take advice from your doctor. If necessary, an emergency service and local physicians can move to the Riad. Make sure you take an insurance policy to cover your possible medical expenses on site.

Means of transformation

A 2hr flight on average from European capitals, get away from it all and sunbathe in Fez, for a memorable break!

The Fez International Airport is served by many direct flights from European countries and other continents.

It is located 18 km and 31 minutes from the Medina. A taxi ride usually costs 20 euros.

If you have lots of luggage, you can use a porter equipped with a Carossa, who for 20 € or 1,90 DH) will bring your luggage to the Riad.

If you take our driver, he will accompany you directly to the gates of La Maison Maure to avoid getting lost in the alleys.

Taxis in Morocco

You have two kinds of taxis available: small taxis and large taxis.

Small taxis (red Fez) can load only 3 people and can not leave the city. Remember to ask them to switch on their counter.

Large (large Mercedes van or mini type car can charge from 4 to 6 people. They can get out of town and go across Morocco.

You can ask them to help you discover the city and its closer or more distant horizons but negotiate the price before departure!

Car rental in Morocco

All major international rental companies have offices in the city or from the airport. Local companies also exist at a reasonable price. We also work with a driver who can take you to the picturesque sites and will save valuable time if your stay is short.

Getting to Fez by car, bike or train

If you wish to travel to Fez by train, train schedules are available on www.oncf.ma. red taxis parked in front of the station take you to the riad in 10 minutes.

If you are driving, you can park in the closest car park, Ain Azliten, just 3 minutes to the Riad on foot. Parking is guarded 24/24, it will cost € 3 per day.

For guidance, the distance between Fez and other major cities by car are: Casablanca is 4 hours, 3 hours to Rabat, Marrakech 6 hours and 5 hours to Tangier, 4 hours to Chefchaouen.

The motorway network is well developed.
